Happy Birthday Uncle Wayne

Aliyah's Uncle Wayne had a birthday this weekend, turning 48 years old. So, she wanted to make him a card.  She found this bear hiding out in a trash can in the Give A Hoot Cartridge.  Although I do have a honey comb stamp, she decided to draw one free hand.

Today is Card Creating Tuesday at My Cricut Craft Room.  Today, we are making cards for Mothers Day.

Today, I used the cartridge Garden Soup to make this card.  I purchased this cart at  Erica's store.

When I purchased this cartridge, I loved it, but did not know how I would ever use it.  Looking through the booklet, I loved the bugs. Then I saw the wheel barrow. It reminded me of my Mom when I was growing up in Rural Maine and New Hampshire. She always had a garden, and always had her wheel barrow with her.

The wheel barrow is on pg 53 and cut at 2 1/2 inches. The various flowers were found on pages 44, 45, 47, 49 & 50, all cut at 1 1/2 inches. I used Stickles to give the flowers and butterflies some sparkle.

My family has lots of birthdays coming up. including my husband, who is turning 50!  Since he is turning 50, I am planning a party for him, which means invitations.  His favorite color combinations are blacka nd yellow/gold.

I chose to use the Cricut Cartridge Demask  Decor.   I used the card feature on page 62. I made the card using the card shift feature. I used a 8.5 X 11 in black card stock and used fit to page.

The Cupcake was cut on yellow card stock. It is hard to see in the picture, but I randomly stamped the cupcake with a filigree filled circle from SEI  and a light silver ink . It is hard to see in the picture, but it really sparkles.

The "It's A Party was from the Celebration stamp set from CTMH with white ink.

The "50" was cut from Birthday Bash shadow and font features cut at 1 inch.

My layout was made using Just Because Cards. In China, the color red is a sign of good luck. Within the China adoption Community, the lady bug is a sign that referrals are coming. The referral is your first introduction to your new child. People often talk about "lady bug sightings", and, referrals are not far behind (keeping in mind they come on a monthly basis)

I found this little lady bug on Just Because Cards on page 48 using layer 1 and layer 1 shift. The black body was cut in black card stock at 3 inches, and the wings were cut in red card stock at 2 inches.

Picture mats and "adoption sign" is red card stock. The word "adoption" is from CTMH Adoption stamp set.  I used pearl pens to add texture to these pieces.

My daughter lives bling, so I used red sparkle heart on the Lady Bug antenna.

The pictures show my daughters adjustment to her family. The first picture was a referral picture taken at the orphanage. The 2nd picture was taken after she was with me for a week. And finally, a picture of her today.

Your next stop is Claire. Please HOP over and see her wonderful projects.

Today is Theme Day Thursday at My Cricut Craft Room.  Today's theme is Cruise, or use the Forever Young Cartridge.  I used the Forever Young cartridge for my layout.

When I was in China adopting my daughter, it was very hot. The sun was out most days, and very bright.  I brought with me a pair of sunglasses for my daughter as she had never been out in the sun before and I wanted to protect her eyes from the sun.  Although she really did not like wearing sunglasses then, she loves them now!
The matting was cut from the Elegant Edges cartridge at 10 inches.

The glasses were cut from Forever Young page 47 at 2 inches.  Using the shadow, shift and layer features.
The ear piece is covered with Martha Stewart Garnet glitter and the lenses are covered with Martha Stewart Onyx glitter.

The "Sunny Days" was cut at 2.5 inches, and "Sunny" was covered with yellow Stickles.
The sun was cut at 3.25 inches (real dial size used) and the face was stamped from Peachy Keen stamps.

Secret Project Time

We do not call Easter "Easter".  We like to say "Resurrection Day" as we are celebrating the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Here is the card I made for my Special Project.

I had a hard time deciding on the back ground paper, and decided on this one. It is a paper I bought for a layout for the birth of my sons. But when I saw this in my box, I felt it was perfect.

Why is a death a Blessed Event?  Well, it is because WE are blessed because of Jesus'death. Because it is only through His death and resurrection, that we are able to come before the throne of God and ask for forgiveness of our sins. It is only with our sins forgiven that we can enter His Kingdom of Heaven.

I used the Cricut Plantin School Book cartridge to cur the grass at 1.25 inches.  The cross and sentiments are from the CTMH He Is Risen stamp set.

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!
