on July 7 & 8. Also on Sunday there will be an exciting announcement!!!

My first card was made from the Formal Occasion and Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cartridges.  The TBBM2 cartridge I purchased from Erica's Store

The card base was cut from TBBM2, and can be found on page34 of the booklet. It was cut at 4.5 inches.

The background paper I also got from Erica.  The flower was cut from the Formal Occasion cartridge and found on page 52 of the booklet. I used scraps to cut the flower at 3.5 inches

The 3 butterflies are cut with a 3D punch. I then added Stickles in the following colors to the butterflies.: Tropical Tangerine, Diamond and Yellow, as well as a little Mint green Liquid Pearls.  I used Clear Rock Candy Distress Stickles to the greenery of the flower.

My 2nd card was made using the round Flip Its die and Twinkle Toes Cartridge. The Twinkle Toes Cartridge is a lite cartridge so it does not have a booklet. I made this card for my 8 yr old daughter as she is currently training to become a competitive cheerleader!

The "Cheer" embellishment was from the 3-10 button on the overlay, using the layer and shift buttons.

Both of my embellishments were made from one sheet of paper!

The back ground paper I used for the front and back of my card were from Erica.

It's Theme Day Thursday at My Cricut Craft Room.  Today's theme is Stand and Salute.  when I saw this theme, I knew I had to do it because both of my sons have spent some time serving in the United States Navy.  Both have had some pretty awesome experiences.  I did 4 layouts on this project...2 for each son.  I am one proud Mama!!

My youngest son served 4 years in the US Navy.  His main (and favorite) assignment was to serve on the Camp David Fire Department!  It was such an honor to be chosen to serve at the famous Presidential Retreat!  It is very hard to get pictures from Camp David as electronic devices with any type of recording capabilities are not permitted on base. So, that means no cameras.  The pics I have were taken by the camp photographer, and the copies were given to my son.

All military personal must wear dog tags on their person at all times. So, I chose to use the dog tag on page 46 of the booklet. I cut it at 3 inches. I chose the anchors because that is a symbol of the US Navy. The anchor can be found on page 37, and cut at 3.5 inches.

These pictures were taken at the camp entrance.

In this layout, I let my pride for my son show. The "My Hero" sentiment can be found on page 66 of the booklet, and cut at 3.25 inches. I used a golden colored marker to color in the stars.  The mats are made from paper printed to resemble the American flag.

My oldest son has been serving in the United States Navy for 8 1/2 years.  The hardest part of his being in the military was when he was sent to Iraq.  These pictures were taken when he was in training in Qatar.

I know their boots are black, but the black was too dark for the layout, so I cut it in brown. The boot is found on page 46, and is cut using "shift"  and the main function key and cut at 7 inches.  The "Support Our Troops" sentiment is found on page 67 and cut at 4.5 inches using the "shift: and function key.

This picture was also taken in Qatar during his training. I am so thankful that his job does NOT include using guns! However, in the Middle East, they are required to carry them with them at all times.

In this layout, I used the rifle on page 49 of the booklet, and cut it at 3 inches.  The "American Pride" sentiment is on page 64, and was cut "fit to page" from a 12X12 inch sheet of olive green card stock.

.....and yes, my son did come home with a "war wound" that was "self inflicted", but at least he didn't shoot himself in the foot!

Secret Project Time

Its that time again, time for my secret project.

I have fallen in love with the stamps from Our Daily Bread Designs. If you are looking for scripture and inspirational stamps, this is the place to go. I am finding their stamps are perfect for my secret project.

Yesterday, I went to church for 3 hours of card making.  We had a blast!  And, I brought my ODBD stamps. They were a huge hit!  I have a feeling my next order will be a lot bigger because some of the other ladies want to order their own!!

These are 3 of the 4 cards I made.   This card was made using the Grunge Cross stamp and matching die that I cut out with my Big Shot.  I did not put a sentiment on it yet because I have not decided which one I want on it. I made another one like it but the dark/light blues are switched.

With this card, I used the cross stamp from the Never Give Up stamp collection, stamped in second generation. I then stamped the Thank God stamp over that in first generation. I then cut the borders from a Spellbinders border die.

On this card, I used a stamp called And He Shall Be Called, which is a background stamp made of the different names of Jesus. The blue and white scalloped circles were made with the Spellbinders scalloped circle dies. The image of Christ is from the Crown Of Thorns stamp set and stamped in second generation. Stamped over that is a stamp of Isaiah 53:5 from the same set in first generation.

It is Would You Every Guess Wednesday at My Crticut Craft Room!

We are challenged to not use regular function keys, but only function keys on the right side if the booklet.  I chose to make my card from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2. My card is on page 32 of the booklet, and cut at 5 inches. The white circles are from Plantin SchoolBook cartridge, on page 72 of the booklet. The circle on the front was cut at 3.75 inches. The cross is from ODBD, and stamped in chocolate brown. I also "smudged" the white circle with the chocolate brown using a cotton ball.  I also added a purple bow.

The inside circle was cut at 4.75 inches, but it was an error that worked out really well.  I cut it too close to the negative space of the first circle. But it made for a perfect fit!  This sentiment is also from ODBD.

I Have A New Toy!!

I first heard of this in April at CKC.  I did not buy one because they had run out, but I loved the card they made with it.  So, the search was on.  I could only find them online, and cost about $30.  I wanted the round one, but that one was hard to find...everyone was out of them.

Now, I live in small town New England. The closest ACMoore is about an hour drive away. If I want to drive half an hour, we have a small Michaels, and a small Joannes that has 1 1/2 small isles for paper crafts. No dies what so ever in that store.

This past Thursday, I went to a conference for work. On my way home, I saw a Hobby Lobby!  I had never seen one before but have seen them mentioned often in forums.  Come to find out, this is the ONLY Hobby Lobby in New England. But it is still over 2 hours drive away.  Anyway, I had to stop, and so glad I did!  They had Flip-Its!!  and they had the round one!  But they had only 1!  AND..it was ON SALE for 30% off!!!

I took a sheet of SEI 12X12 card stock and cut it in half. I did buy the crease pad. It works better with it, but it does OK without it too.

My sandwich consisted of  a cutting plate, the Flip-Its die, paper, then the crease pad. This is what I got.

You then fold on the creases made by the die.

This is the front showing the fold lines

This is the front when it is folded,  The circle in the middle is 3 1/2 inches

A little embellishment on the front of the circle

The front of my finished card.

My finished card opened.

I know I am going to get a lot of use from this die!!

Blog Candy:  http://ericasblogcandy.blogspot.com/  <---- go here next!

This first project was a challenge for me. It was make with the Every Day Pop Up Cards cartridge.
Erica had sent me some items that I would not even consider using. One of the items was a sheet of acetate.  I had no clue what to do with that.  I found a cool project on You Tube. The person who made the card was named Loraine. I loved this idea and thought I would give it a try.  I decided to make this card into a birthday card for my baby sister, how is soon to be turning 44!

I took an A2 sized card, and made a cut 1 inch from the fold. Then cut 2 more 1 inch pieces inch from the piece that I cut off, then one piece that was slightly smaller that 1 inch.

The acetate was cut down to 5.5 inches X a little more than 4 inches but also a little less that 4.25 inches.

I used a dry adhesive that I got from Erica to adhere the acetate to the 1 inch flap on the front of the card.  After, that I used the cut piece that was a little less than 1 inch to the inside of the card, adhering it to the acetate. This hides the adhesive.

The other 2 1 inch strips are adhered to the other side (both front and back) of the acetate.

Other items Erica sent was some card stock with very bold colors and glitter paper.  So, all the paper used for this card came from Erica.  She even sent me the cupcake stickers!! So, it fit right in with this card.

The cupcake was made from Every Day Pop Up Cards cartridge, and found on page 61 of the booklet. I cut it at 3.5 inches, using the basic cut and then with shift, then layer 1 and layer with shift.   The sentiments came from CTMH.

My next project will be used for my Secret Project. It was made using papers that came from Erica!  (Isn't she great!!) and  the New Testament  cartridge. The cross can be found on page 41 of the booklet. Using the cross function key and then with the shift key, cut at 5 inches.  The sentiment came from ODBD.

To win some blog candy, leave a comment on all the blogs in this weekends hop (there will be more tomorrow!) and then leave a comment at:  http://ericasblogcandy.blogspot.com/
